The recent activities initiated by the Greek General Secretariat for Gender Equality in favour of equal pay between men and women (Athens, January 2019)
The General Secretariat for Gender Equality (GSGE), i.e. the governmental organization in charge of equality between women and men in Greece, has already uploaded on the English page of its website the recent announcement by the European Commission on the launch of the public consultation about EU rules guaranteeing equal pay between men and women: http://www.isotita.gr/en/european-commission-launched-public-consultation-eu-rules-guaranteeing-equal-pay-men-women-brussels-january-2019/ .
This initiative is considered to constitute an integral part of our programme of activities in favour of the European Equal Pay Day. It is of crucial importance to be reminded that all the European Institutions were comprehensively informed on 2-11-2018 by the competent GSGE Director for Planning, Standardization & Policy Monitoring on Gender Equality on the successful awareness-raising campaign by the Greek General Secretariat for Gender Equality on the European Equal Pay Day 2018 both on a national and on international level.
First of all, the useful information material issued by the European Commission was uploaded on our website and our page in the social media on 29-10-2018:

In addition, on 29-10-2018 a very comprehensive letter on the European Equal Pay Day 2018 signed by the competent GSGE Director for Planning, Standardization & Policy Monitoring on Gender Equality was communicated by us to a number of public organizations and independent bodies in Greece and on abroad. The recipients of our document have been, among others, the Hellenic Parliament, the Greek Ombudsman, the National Commission for Human Rights, all Ministries (the competent Ministry of Labour, Social Security & Social Solidarity included), the Permanent Representations of Greece to the International Organizations, all the key social partners, as well as the EU Institutions represented in Greece (i.e. the European Commission and the European Parliament) and the World Bank.
The specific document has already been uploaded at the GSGE website and our page on the facebook (see the same links above).
Furthermore, after a proposal by the competent GSGE Director for Planning, Standardization & Policy Monitoring on Gender Equality, the General Secretariat for Gender Equality issued a press release in Greek on 31-10-2018 (relevant link: http://www.isotita.gr/δελτίο-τύπου-η-γ-γ-ι-φ-για-την-ευρωπαϊκή/ ), which gained great publicity among the Mass Media and social media in Greece.

In that way, further promotion and greater visibility of our joint pivotal role on gender mainstreaming, women’s economic empowerment and equality between women and men have been achieved by our initiative among competent Greek stakeholders.
